I participated in a 3-week artist residence program for the @kanfestival  that sourced 8 artists from different African countries to create artworks for the KAN Festival at MS TCDC, at Usa River, Tanzania.

The theme was about development and developmentalism in Africa.

I collaborated with Congolese multidisciplinary artist @kokokabamba where we created the installation ‘AFRICA UNITED ‘, several sculptures and did a performance artpiece together.

The installation is a structure made of ropes that connect beneath a tree inspired by the shape and spiritual representation of the Pyramid and the continuity of a circle.

The connected ropes represent the countries of Afrika uniting into one powerful energy.

All around the structure are masks made out of upcycled waste materials that represent the spirits of our ancestors reminding us to take care of each other and of our environment.
